My Portfolio:

Welcome!

Welcome to the Mahara version of my e-portfolio. I am exploring the capabilities of using this system to maintain electronic portfolios as part of my research on implementation of online electronic portfolio systems.

The Journal Entries here are just a demonstration of how you can insert blog [announcements] entries into a portfolio first page. My real blog is located here: http://blog,helenbarrett.org/

Every portfolio has a purpose. My purpose for developing this portfolio is to show my skills in developing an electronic portfolio using any number of tools. After reviewing all of my artifacts (see my Portfolio at a Glance) I found five general categories of competencies:

  • Writing & Assessment Competency (My Publications)
  • Electronic Portfolio Competency - Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Digital Storytelling Competency - Digital Video Editing Skills
  • TechnologyCompetency - Multimedia & Web Page Authoring Skills
  • Teaching & Instructional Design Competency - Presentations

Impressions of Mahara

I wrote a reflection in the first version of my portfolio (my first Collection). I want to use the tool more, to figure out how this tool fits my model of Interactive Portfolios. This is very interesting!

Beginning Mahara

I found this link from Allison Miller and Eportfolios Community of Practice on my Facebook account. I think it is time for me to learn Mahara! This service limits file storage to 50 MB. But I will be using my cloud storage for all on my artifacts. It will be interesting to try out this service.

I guess there is another free Mahara hosting service, Foliospaces which offers a Premium upgrade for $40/year (up to 2 GB storage).

Howdy are using Wordpress for your blog platform? I'm new to the blog world but I'm trying to get started and set up my own. Do you require any html coding knowledge to make your own blog? Any help would be really appreciated!

You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be actually something that I think I would never understand. It seems too complex and extremely broad for me. I'm looking forward for your next post, I'll try to get the hang of it!
